DESCRIPTION:
Law clerks prepare summaries for cases, which includes reviewing the
case file, summarizing the facts and arguments, and analyzing the issues
involved. Law clerks also attend oral arguments and case conferences,
assist in drafting opinions, review opinions for content and form prior
to their release, do research, assist with speeches and presentations,
and perform any other duties as assigned by the judge. Law clerks must
have the ability to reason logically and analytically as many cases
involve complex legal issues and factual matters. The First District
Court of Appeal is a general jurisdiction appeals court with a broad mix
of civil, criminal, and administrative cases.
Qualifications include:
Applicants should be in the top 10 percent, and must be in the quartile,
of their class, have excellent writing skills, and devote great
attention to detail. They should be proficient in word processing and
Westlaw usage, and work well independently.

transcript (unofficial copy acceptable).
Florida Bar Exam Required.
Salary:
The minimum salary for law clerks is
$45,556.08. Appointments are 10% below the minimum ($41,000.88) if the
individual is not a member of The Florida Bar.

The Court is currently soliciting
resumes for law clerk and staff attorney positions as they become
available. Excellent academic credentials required. Top 10 percent class
rank and law review editorial experience preferred. Applications should
include a cover letter, resume, list of references, writing sample, and law
school transcript.
